While you can buy a fajita spice blend at the store for these air fryer fajitas, it's super easy to make at home! Follow this fajita seasoning mix recipe to make a small batch of the spice blend to use and have on hand. Here are the spices you'll need:
- Chili Powder
- Ground Cumin
- Paprika or Smoked Paprika
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Salt and Pepper
- Ground Cayenne Pepper - this can be adjusted or even omitted to your preference

Making air fryer chicken fajitas is fast and easy!
Photo 1 - In a large bowl, toss together the sliced chicken and veggies with the oil and fajita seasoning. Make sure everything is evenly coated.
Photo 2 - Add to the air fryer basket - it's okay if things are overlapping.
Photo 3 - Air fry at 400 degrees F for about 12 minutes. It's important to toss everything every 5 minutes or so for even cooking. It's done when the chicken is cooked through and the veggies are tender.

When making fajitas, cut the chicken breasts into strips. This helps them cook quickly and makes the fajitas easier to eat. It's easiest to slice chicken breasts thinly if they are chilled from the fridge.
Red onions are my favorite to use in fajitas because they have a sweeter and more mild onion flavor when cooked.
Both taco and fajita seasoning have some similar spices like cumin, paprika, and chili. You can use taco and fajita seasonings interchangeably in many recipes.
