⭐Why I Love It:
- Easy Clean Up - Because the entire meal is cooked on the Blackstone, clean up is super fast! For another asian-inspired Blackstone recipe, try this Blackstone Egg Roll in a Bowl or have a pizza night with this Blackstone Flatbread Crust.
- 5-Ingredient Stir Fry Sauce - This simple stir fry sauce takes the flavor of the fried rice over the top! I like to toss a little over half of the sauce with the fried rice and reserve the rest to drizzle over the top when serving.
- Simple Ingredients - In addition to being a great recipe to use leftover white rice, I love that it uses a bag of frozen peas and carrots to keep it easy.
🥘Ingredients
- Canola Oil - I typically use canola oil on my Blackstone as it has a higher smoke point.
- Onion - you can use white onion or yellow onion.
- Frozen Peas & Carrots - I buy one bag that is a frozen blend of the two.
- Beaten Eggs - The classic fried rice addition is small pieces of scrambled eggs, but you can omit if you don't want eggs.
- Minced Garlic - Freshly minced garlic has the best flavor but you can also use the kind in a jar.
- Cooked White Rice (Day Old is strongly preferred) - It's best to use rice that is a day pr two old so it has dried out as this helps give that slightly crunchy fried rice texture vs the rice all sticking and clumping together. See the tips for how to speed up this process, if you're in a pinch!
- Soy Sauce - I use low sodium soy sauce.
- Green Onions - also called scallions or spring onions. I like to thinly slice lots of them then toss about half with the fried rice and save the other half to sprinkle on top.
- Stir Fry Sauce - To make the homemade stir fry sauce you'll need: Soy Sauce, Chili Garlic Sauce, Rice Vinegar, Crushed or Minced Ginger, Sesame Oil.

🍚Serving Suggestions
I find this recipe to be a filling meal on its own, but if you want to stretch it even further, I love serving alongside a protein like this Korean Ground Beef or Sesame Chicken.
🔪Step by Step Instructions
Photo 1 - Start by preheating the grill on medium-high, add a coat of oil, and add the onion. Cook, moving around, for 2-3 minutes until softening and starting to brown.
Photo 2 - Add the bag of frozen peas and carrots and cook for another 2 minutes or so, while moving around. The veggies should soften and get some browning as well. Add the garlic and cook for just another 30 seconds to a minute, until fragrant.
Photo 3 - Push the veggies off to the side so they are away from the direct heat. Turn off one of the burners and slowly add the beaten eggs (adding slowly helps prevent them from rolling to the edge). Give the eggs a quick scramble then set on top of the veggies to prevent over cooking.
Photo 4 - Turn the burners back to medium-high, add another coat of oil, and add the cooked rice. Spread out in an even layer and toss around for 1-2 minutes to warm the rice and get some light browning and crispy bits. Toss in the soy sauce.
Photo 5 - Toss the veggies and eggs with the seasoned and stir fried white rice.
Photo 6 - Toss in some or all of the stir fry sauce along with about half of the sliced green onions. Toss to well combine. Remove from the griddle and serve with the remaining green onions and stir fry sauce.
💭Recipe Tips
- Day Old Cooked White Rice - Day Old Rice - For best results, use rice that is a day or two old so it has dried out (this helps make the rice less sticky). If you want to cook this the same day, you can spread the rice out on a baking sheet and pop into the fridge for a few hours to cool and dry out a bit.
- Leftovers - Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 4 days. I love making this for meal prep! They can be reheated in the microwave or, even better, add to a skillet to rewarm and crisp up some of the bits again.
- Make on the stove inside? If a rainy day ruined your Blackstone plans, this can easily be made in a large skillet or wok on the stove, but I prefer to use the Blackstone as it has way more surface area and gets much hotter.
👩🍳Recipe FAQs
It's best to use a high smoke point oil to go on your Blackstone, such as a vegetable oil, a canola oil, or an avocado oil. These types of oils can withstand. really high temperatures.
