Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

chicken breasts and whole grain mustard

5 from 1 reviews

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken is a summer favorite! The chicken breasts are tender and juicy and marinated in the most flavorful honey mustard marinade.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons whole grain mustard
  • 3 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 5 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Instructions

  1. Make the Marinade - In a large bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients.
  2. Marinate Chicken - Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, flip and toss to coat. Place in the fridge and marinate for at least an hour, or up to overnight.
  3. Grill Chicken - Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (450-500 degrees F.) Place the prepared chicken on the preheated grill, over direct heat, and close the lid. Grill for 5-8 minutes per side (the time will depend on the thickness of the breasts). The chicken is ready to flip when it releases easily from the grill. For best results, use a thermometer to tell when the chicken is cooked (165 degrees F.)
  4. Serve - Remove the chicken and allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Excess Marinade - If you'd like, you can set aside a few tablespoons of the marinade (or mix up a little extra) before adding the raw chicken. You can then brush this on the grilled chicken. You cannot do this with leftover marinade that has been in contact with the raw chicken - that excess marinade needs to be discarded.

Marinade Amount - You can easily adjust how much marinade you make depending on how much chicken you want to grill up!
