This Ninja Creami Pumpkin Frozen Yogurt recipe uses only 6 simple ingredients, and the results are thick, creamy, and slightly tangy like your favorite frozen yogurt but with a pumpkin spin. Not to mention loaded with protein from the Greek yogurt! This Pumpkin Fro Yo is ready to enjoy plain or with your favorite toppings!

The Ninja Creami appliance lets you make ice-creams, sorbets, and soft serve with unconventional ingredients! With a traditional ice cream maker you add the ice cream base for a frozen canister that churns the ice cream while mixing. This is the Ninja Creami machine that I have!

But with a Ninja Creami, you freeze the entire base and then it chops and blends it up (similar to a blender, but gives a much creamier texture). Other Ninja Creami recipes to try is this Ninja Creami Peach Sorbet, Ninja Creami Vanilla Soft Serve, or Copycat Ninja Creami Wendy's Frosty.

    ⭐Why I Love It:

    • Easy Ingredients - You only need Greek Yogurt, pumpkin puree, milk, vanilla extract, and a little sugar to add sweetness. You can use similar ingredients to make this Ninja Creami Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream!
    • Sweet with a Tang - The perfect balance of sweet for a treat, but with that classic frozen yogurt tang. For a non-pumpkin version, try this recipe for Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt.
    • Pumpkin Puree - I'm always looking for recipes that use a little bit of pumpkin when I have an open can and this is a great one!
    • Simple to Make - Just mix up the ingredients right in the pint container, freeze, and blend in the Ninja Creami!

    🥘Ingredients

Ingredients for pumpkin frozen yogurt in small glass prep bowls.
    • Plain Greek Yogurt - I recommend using full fat Greek Yogurt for the best flavor and texture. You can use any extra Greek Yogurt to make this Greek Yogurt Flatbread or Healthy Buffalo Chicken.
    • Pumpkin Puree - Use the plain canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. For other recipes using pumpkin puree, I love pumpkin Mac and cheese, pumpkin banana muffins, and pumpkin chili.
    • Milk - You only need a small amount to give it a smoother texture. I used nonfat milk, but you can use low-fat or whole milk.
    • Vanilla Extract
    • White Granulated Sugar - Because we're using a plain, unflavored yogurt, we need to add a little sugar to add sweetness.
    • Pumpkin Pie Spice - This helps enhance the pumpkin puree flavor! If you don't have pumpkin pie spice you can also use this recipe for homemade pumpkin pie spice blend to make your own.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    📖Variations

    • Softer Texture - If you want your Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt to have a softer texture you can add more milk when you do the second spin.
    • Mix-Ins - I love adding mix-ins to my frozen yogurt! Some favorites are sprinkles, chopped fresh fruit, cookie dough chunks, Oreo cookies, graham crackers, chocolate chip cookies (store-bought or leftover homemade like these chocolate chip cookies without brown sugar), or mini chocolate chips.

🔪Ninja Creami Pumpkin Frozen Yogurt - Step by Step Instructions

Making a pumpkin frozen greek yogurt in your Ninja Creami is easy! Just add your ingredients right to the container, mix together, freeze, and blend!

Pumpkin and Greek yogurt mixed together in pint container.

Photo 1 - Add the yogurt, milk, vanilla, pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, and sugar to the pint and mix together. Be sure to level out the top once mixed.

Photo 2 - Place the pint in the freezer and freeze for 24 hours so it is fully solid. Make sure you place it on a level surface in your freezer. I prefer to freeze with lid off.

Photo 3 - Blend. Insert into the outer bowl, add the lid, and lock into position. Blend on 'Lite Ice-Cream'. It will be crumbly. Make a little well in the center, add the extra milk (if using), and re-spin.

    🍽Leftovers and Storage

If you can't eat the entire frozen yogurt pint in one sitting, you have two options for storing:

    1. Save for Re-Blending: Use a spoon to smooth out and level the top in the Ninja Creami pint container and put back in the freezer. Freezing with the level top will let you re-spin it in the Ninja Creami when you want to eat it again. This method will give you that same creamy texture. Note that if you added mix-ins, they'll get chopped up when you re-spin.
    2. Store and Thaw Slightly Before Enjoying: If you want to free up your Ninja Creami pint container, you can transfer the leftover frosty to another container and freeze. For this method, you won't be able to re-spin it but I find that letting it thaw on the container for a bit or zapping it in the microwave for just 5-10 seconds softens it and the texture is almost as good as freshly spun.

    💭Recipe Tips

    • Powdery after the First Spin is Normal - It's normal and expected for the mixture to be crumbly after the first spin. The second spin (especially when you add a little more liquid) is when the magic happens!
    • The Machine is Loud -If this is your first time using your Ninja Creami, be aware that it is loud when it is spinning. I find the noise level to be similar to a blender. Might not be the best option during nap time 🙂
    • Freeze without the lid - I've found that freezing the pint without the lid helps prevent the large peak from forming in the middle. If yours does have a peak, it's okay. You'll just want to shave off some of it with a metal spoon so the top is more level.

    👩‍🍳Recipe FAQs

Does the Ninja Creami really need 24 hours?

The instructions say to freeze your base for 24 hours before blending because it insures that it is frozen completely solid. The exact freeze time will vary based on your freezer - your base likely can be frozen completely solid in less time. The Ninja Creami will not work properly if it isn't completely frozen.

Why is my ice-cream powdery from the Ninja Creami?

It is normal for the ice-cream to be powdery or crumbly after just one spin because the base is frozen so solid. After one more spin, the ice-cream should be creamy and ready to enjoy.

Can you refreeze ice cream from the Ninja Creami?

Yes you can refreeze leftover Ninja Creami ice cream if you don't finish the whole pint. After freezing again you can either re-spin for the best texture or let it thaw slightly at room temperature (or zapping in the microwave for a few seconds) to soften and enjoy.

How many times do you respin in a Ninja Creami?

I find that most recipes only need two spins to get that smooth and creamy texture. It can help to add a tablespoon or two of liquid in between the first and second spin.

    • Author: Kathleen Hansen
    • Prep Time: 5 minutes
    • Total Time: 24 hours 10 minutes
    • Yield: 1 pint
    • Category: Dessert
    • Method: Ninja Creami
    • Cuisine: American

    Ingredients

    • 1 ¼ cups plain Greek yogurt, full fat preferred for best texture.
    • ¼ cup milk, plus 1-2 tablespoons additional for re-spin.
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ¼ cup white granulated sugar
    • ½ cup pumpkin puree
    • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

    Instructions

    1. Mix Base in Pint Container - Add the yogurt, ¼ cup milk, vanilla, sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice to the pint container and mix together. Be sure to level out the top once mixed.
    2. Freeze - Place the pint in the freezer and freeze for 24 hours so it is fully solid. Make sure you place it on a level surface in your freezer. I like to freeze without a lid as I find it reduces the hump that can form in the middle.
    3. Prep for Blending - Remove the frozen pint from the freezer. If you have a 'hump' in the center, it's best to scrape most of it away with a spoon so it is mostly level.
    4. Blend - Insert into the outer bowl, add the lid, and lock into position. Blend on 'Lite Ice-Cream'
    5. Add Liquid and Re-Spin - Make a little well in the center, add the extra milk (if using, see note), and re-spin.
    6. Enjoy - After the second spin, the pumpkin frozen yogurt should be thick, creamy and ready to enjoy. Or you can add in mix-ins at this point.

    Notes

Liquid For Re-Spin - Before the second spin, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of milk. This will give a softer texture.

Leftovers? You can either use a spoon to smooth out and level the top in the Ninja Creami pint container and put back in the freezer. Then you can spin again when ready to eat. Or you can transfer the leftovers to another container and freeze. Then thaw on the container for a bit or zap it in the microwave for just 5-10 seconds to soften it and eat again.
