    Tips and FAQ's

Add Sprinkles to make it Fun and Festive!

While sprinkles aren't needed, they're a fun add to make this Rice Krispie treat extra special.

Especially to make this mug treat kid-friendly!

Can I make more than one?

This recipe is written for one mug, but you can easily double it to make two!

It’s best to microwave them separately, though. Microwaving two mugs at once will impact the cook time.

What size of mug should I use?

Any standard size (8 ounces or larger) coffee mug works! The marshmallows will puff up as it melts in the microwave. Once you add the Rice Krispies, they will deflate.

The most important piece is to use a mug that is microwave safe!

Do I need to grease my mug?

Because you eat the the treat right out of the mug, you do not need to grease.

I do not grease and instead just soak the mug in some warm soapy water for a few minutes before cleaning to remove any cooked on bits.

    • Total Time: 3 minutes
    • Yield: 1 serving
    • Category: Dessert
    • Method: Microwave
    • Cuisine: American

    Ingredients

    • ½ tablespoon Unsalted Butter
    • ¾ cup Rice Krispies Cereal
    • ¾ cup Mini Marshmallows
    • Pinch of Salt, omit if using Salted Butter

    Instructions

    1. Melt Marshmallows and Butter. Add butter and marshmallows in a microwave-safe mug. Microwave for 30 seconds or until melted. Be careful, the marshmallows will puff up - don't let them overflow in the mug. It helps to microwave in intervals if this happens.
    2. Stir in Cereal. Add Rice Krispies and a small pinch of salt to the melted marshmallows and butter. Stir to combine - it will be sticky and gooey.
    3. Enjoy!

    Notes

Sprinkles - While sprinkles aren't needed, they're a fun add to make this Rice Krispie treat extra special.
