Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake is such a simple chocolate treat! This is the easiest way to bake store-bought cookie dough in the air fryer. You can make the skillet cookie in a variety of baking dish sizes - including a cake pan or single-serve dishes.

Ingredients for the Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie:

You only need 1 or 2 ingredients to make a skillet cookie in the air fryer. Here's what you need:

    • Store-Bought Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough - Use your favorite brand! You can also use homemade cookie dough.
    • Butter or Cooking Spray - Optional for greasing the pan. This is helpful if you want to remove the cookie cake. But it is less necessary if you plan to eat straight out of the pan with a spoon 🙂

How to Bake Cookie Dough in the Air Fryer

Baking cookies in the air fryer can be tricky. Depending on your air fryer model, there are a few common problems - mainly that the fan can suck up the parchment paper and blow the cookies around. The solution? Turn the cookie dough into a cookie skillet or cookie cake! Here's how to air fry cookie dough:

    1. Pick your Baking Pan. You can use a small round cake pan or multiple single-serve ramekins. Anything that is oven safe for baking that fits in your air fryer will work!
    2. Optional: Grease Pans. I like to grease the pan or baking dishes with butter. This makes it easy to remove the cookie cake and you can't go wrong with extra butter flavor! But you can skip this step if you plan to eat the cookie skillet with a spoon.
    3. Press Dough into Pan. Press the cookie dough into the pan or dishes. It's easiest if you let it warm up to room temperature for 5-10 minutes first. Press into an even layer in the pan.
    4. Air Fry. Air Fry the cookie cake at 325 degrees F. The bake time will vary depending on your pan size. For a 6-inch cake pan with the full packet of cookie dough (16 oz) it will take about 25-30 minutes or if the full packet is divided among 4 ramekins they will take about 25 min. Air fry until the cookie cake is golden brown and set (it doesn't jiggle when you shake the pan). You can also insert a toothpick to test for doneness.
    5. Serve. Allow to slightly cool then enjoy! I prefer to eat the cookie skillet warm with a scoop of ice-cream on top.

    What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is essentially a compact countertop convection oven. A fan circulates the hot air at a quick speed which creates a crispy layer on foods without needing to fry in oil.

Can I bake cookies in my Air Fryer?

You can bake cookies in an air fryer. But you need to put the cookies on a pan or parchment paper to keep the dough from falling through the basket. The air fryer fan can also get tricky and suck up the cookies or parchment. Because of these common issues, my favorite way to bake cookies is by making an air fryer skillet cookie.

How do you know when Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are done?

Depending on your pan size, the exact bake time will vary. The cookie bars will be golden on top and set. Give the pan a shake and they are set when it doesn't jiggle in the middle. You can also use a toothpick to test for doneness.

    What pan should be used?

Pictured is a 6-inch round cake pan. You can use any cake pan that fits in your air fryer. Most air fryers will fit a 6-7 inch pan. For another way to use a 6 or 7 inch cake pan, check out my easy recipe for Air Fryer Monkey Bread.

If you prefer single-serve chocolate chip cookie cakes, you can also use oven-safe ramekin dishes. Depending on your air fryer size and the amount of ramekins you are making, you may need to air fry in batches.

    Leftovers, Storage, and Reheating

Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookies or Cookie Cakes is best served after baking when it is warm and gooey.

Leftovers and Storage: Leftover cookie cake can be stored at room temperature for up to 5 days. Tightly cover the cake pan or ramekins with plastic wrap to keep the cookies from drying out.

Reheating: the cookie cake can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. To reheat, you can microwave pieces of the skillet cookie (do NOT put the metal cake pan in the microwave). Or you can reheat the entire pan in the air fryer at 300F for a few minutes until warmed.

    Recipe Notes and Tips:

    • Greasing the pan is optional, but it makes it much easier to remove slices of the skillet cookie or to pop out the entire thing. I like to grease the pan with butter for extra flavor! But if you plan to eat it straight out of the pan with a spoon, then greasing is less necessary.
    • Instead of store-bought cookie dough, you can also use your favorite homemade cookie dough recipe! The air fryer bake time will remain similar - the main factor that impacts the time is the size of pan or baking dish.

Absolutely tastes exactly like a huge chocolate chip skillet cookie. I have a large air fryer oven, 26 quarts, and adapted your recipe to that. I used 4 packages of Nestle’s dough, although 3 would be enough, and added 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts. I lined the AF tray with oil-sprayed parchment paper and then flattened the refrigerated dough onto the parchment. This was supposed to be tonight’s dessert if we hadn’t eaten it all immediately. You are 100% correct, ice cream as a topper seals the deal for a scrumptious dessert. Thank you for sharing!
