⭐Why I Love It:
- Easy Clean Up - Because the entire meal is cooked on the Blackstone, clean up is super fast! Also try making this Blackstone Egg Roll in a Bowl for a quick and easy dinner!
- Ready in 20 Minutes - Just assemble the pizzas on the griddle and cook! No need to fuss with pizza dough to make the crust. Also try making these Blackstone Pizza Quesadillas with tortillas instead of flatbread crusts.
- Store-bought Shortcuts - Using store-bought flatbread crusts (or you can even use naan bread) helps make this Blackstone pizza recipe even easier and fuss-free!
🥘Ingredients
- Canola Oil - I typically use canola oil on my Blackstone as it has a higher smoke point.
- Flatbread Crusts - Buy pre-cooked flatbread crusts at the grocery store to use as easy pizza crusts! You can also use naan and the recipe remains the same.
- Marinara Sauce - Use your favorite jarred marinara sauce.
- Shredded Mozzarella - I like to use a part-skin mozzarella
- Dried Oregano and/or Fresh Basil - I like to sprinkle dried oregano on the pepperoni pizza and add sliced fresh basil to the sausage pizza, but you can mix it up!
- Italian Sausage and/or Pepperoni - Your choice! Or, you can omit all together if you prefer a vegetarian flatbread pizza.
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
🍕Variations
Try these other popular topping combinations on the flatbread pizzas!
- BBQ Chicken - Top the flatbread with barbecue sauce instead of marinara sauce, top with cooked and shredded chicken, and shredded cheese. You can also add thinly sliced red onions.
- Chicken Bacon Ranch - Instead of marinara sauce, use a thin coat of ranch dressing as the sauce and top with cooked chicken, crumbled bacon, and shredded mozzarella.4
- Margarita Pizza - Add thinly sliced tomatoes, slices of fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves. After cooking, I like to add a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
🔪Step by Step Instructions
Photo 1 - (Optional) If using sausage, preheat the griddle to medium and add a thin coat of canola oil. Cook the sausage, while crumbling, until fully cooked and no longer pink. Remove to a plate.
Photo 2 - Preheat the Blackstone griddle to Low heat (about 300 - 350 degrees F). Add a thin coat of canola oil then add the flatbread crusts. Spread the sauce on each crust and add the toppings of choice.
Photo 3 - Close the hood of the griddle and cook the flatbread pizzas for 5-7 minutes until the bottom of the flatbreads are browned (not burnt) and the cheese is melted. If you don't have a hood, you can add a large piece of foil to loosely tent the pizzas - the key is to trap some of the heat so the cheese melts. If the crusts are getting too dark on the bottom before the cheese is melted, you can turn off the griddle but leave the cover on to trap the residual heat and melt the cheese.
Photo 4 - Once the flatbread crusts are browned on the bottom and the cheese is melted on top, remove from the griddle. Top with the fresh basil and/or a sprinkle or dried oregano or red pepper flakes. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
💭Recipe Tips
- Leftovers - Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 4 days. For best results, I like to reheat leftover flatbread pizza in the air fryer at 350 degrees F, in the oven at 375 degrees F, or in a skillet over medium heat with the lid on and a splash of water added to the pan.
- Make in the Oven Inside - If a rainy day ruined your Blackstone plans, these can be made in a 400 degrees F oven on a baking sheet (or directly on the oven rack) for 8-10 minutes.
- Make on a Regular Grill Instead - If you don't have a flat top griddle like a Blackstone, you can also cook these on a regular gas or charcoal grill. Cook the pizzas over Medium-Low heat (about 350 degrees F) for 6-10 minutes with the grill lid closed to trap the heat. Grill until the bottoms of the crust have grill marks and the cheese is melted.
👩🍳Recipe FAQs
Cooking these flatbread pizzas on the griddle is one of my favorite easy dinner hacks! The key is to keep the temp on the Blackstone low so the flatbread crust doesn't burn before the cheese melts. And to also cover the griddle (either with a hood or a large piece of loose foil).
I love using store-bought flatbread as a pizza crust when I want to save on effort and time! The flatbread still gets crispy on the bottom but remains fluffy and chewy in the middle.
