Easy Garlic Knots are soft, golden, and topped with garlic herb butter and parmesan cheese. Making them homemade is far simpler than you might think! Especially if you buy the pizza dough. I like to store fresh pizza dough in the freezer so I always have some on hand to make garlic knots or for pizza night.
What You'll Need for this Recipe:
- Pizza Dough - Homemade (like this pizza dough recipe) or store-bought
- Butter
- Italian Seasoning
- Garlic Powder
- Fresh Grated Parmesan Cheese
- Fresh Parsley
Tips and FAQs!
Can I halve or double the recipe?
Absolutely! You really can use however much pizza dough you'd like and just adjust the garlic herb butter accordingly. We often will use just a portion of the dough to make a small batch of knots and then use the rest of the dough to make a pizza. The recipe instructions remain the same no matter the amount.
How do you tie the knots?
- Divide the Dough: Divide 1 pound of pizza dough into 16 equal pieces. (adjust if you're using more or less dough)
- Roll each piece into a rope. Roll each piece of dough into a rope - about 8 inches long.
- Tie the rope into a knot. Tie into a simple knot. You can tuck the ends in (what I have pictured) or leave the 'tails' hanging out.
What can I use instead of Italian Seasoning?
You can substitute other dried herbs! You can make your own Italian blend by using dried oregano, dried basil, and dried parsley. But you can also use just one or two of them - up to you!
Does this keep well for leftovers?
Although best eaten fresh out of the oven, leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. I recommend reheating in the oven or air fryer.
Some dips/sauces to serve with:
- Parmesan Garlic White Pizza Sauce - from On Ty's Plate
- Instant Pot Marinara Sauce - from Flavor Mosaic
- Stovetop Homemade Marinara Sauce - from The Forked Spoon
