Banana Bread Baked Oats are a healthy and filling breakfast that tastes like your favorite banana bread with a denser texture! The batter is made by blending oats with bananas and some other simple ingredients (no flour!) before baking in the oven.
Baked oats went viral on TikTok recently and for good reason! They're easy to make, healthy, and have a cake-like texture without using flour. This recipe serves two but you can easily double it to make more or halve it to only serve one!

Why I Love It:
- Simple Ingredients - I typically have all of the ingredients on hand!
- Filling Breakfast - All of the fiber from the oats help fill me up until lunch.
- Use up those Ripe Bananas - If I'm not using ripe bananas to make my moist banana bread with oil then I love using them for this recipe! Or If you only have 1 banana, try this recipe for single serve banana bread!
Ingredients and Equipment
- Ripe Bananas - You want to use bananas that are brown/black as they are much softer and sweeter. You can also use extra ripe bananas to make these Kodiak Banana Protein Muffins.
- Eggs
- Classic or Old Fashioned Oats - you can use the extra oats to make this Air Fryer Apple Crisp or Single Serve Oatmeal Scotchie Cookie!
- Maple Syrup - You could also swap in honey
- Ground Cinnamon
- Vanilla Extract
- Baking Powder
- Kosher Salt
- Chocolate Chips - optional but it really gives that baked oatmeal that 'chocolate chip banana bread' flavor.
- Ramekins - This recipes uses two 7-8 ounce ramekins that are oven safe for baking.
Step by step instructions
This recipe for banana bread baked oats is so easy! Just mix up the batter in a blender or food processor then bake in the oven.
- Prep - Start by getting the oven preheating and spraying the ramekins with cooking spray and place on a baking sheet.
- Blend Batter - Add all ingredients, except for the chocolate chips, to a blender or food processor. Blend for 30 seconds to a minute until the batter is smooth.
- Add to Ramekins - Pour the batter into the ramekins and top with the chocolate chips. Let them sit for 5-10 minutes so the oats can absorb some of the liquid.
- Bake - Bake in the preheated oven until the baked oats are puffed up, pulling away from the sides, and a toothpick inserted comes out with no wet batter.
- Enjoy - Let cool for a few minutes then serve and enjoy!
Leftovers and Storage
Although I find the texture to be best right after baking, you can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave for about a minute or until warmed.
Recipe Tips
- Other Baking Dish - If you don't have 7-8 ounce sized ramekins, you can use other small baking dishes or combine into one dish. The bake time will need to be adjusted, so bake them until they are puffed up, pulling away from the sides, and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Double the Recipes - This recipe is easy to double! As long as you're using a standard sized blender or food processor, you should be able to blend up the larger batch of batter.
Frequently Asked Questions
There isn't a nutritional difference from baking oats or from cooking them on the stovetop/microwave in the traditional manner. Oats are a whole grain that are also a great source of fiber.
