- Mayonnaise - You can use regular or light mayo
- Sweet Chili Sauce
- Sriracha

- Sesame Seeds - Optional for a garnish
Step by Step Instructions
This recipe for Bang Bang Salmon takes only a few minutes to prep and less than 10 minutes to cook!
- Prep - Start by getting your oven preheating and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make Bang Bang Sauce - In a medium bowl, mix together the bang bang sauce ingredients (mayo, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey). Adjust the spice/sweet level to taste.
- Season Salmon - Place the salmon filets on the lined baking sheet and drizzle the salmon with the oil. Mix up the spices in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the filets. Rub the seasoning all over the top of the filets.
- Brush on Sauce - Set aside half of the sauce and with the other half, brush or spoon it over the tops of the filets.
- Bake Salmon - Bake the salmon until almost fully cooked then I like to turn on the broiler to high and broil for just a minute or two to finish cooking and get crispier edges.
- Serve - Transfer the salmon and serve with a drizzle of the remaining bang bang sauce.
Variations
- Air Fryer Bang Bang Salmon - Instead of baking in the oven, you can air fry the salmon for 5-6 minutes at 400 degrees F. Check out this recipe for Air Fryer Honey Garlic Salmon.
- Other Uses for Bang Bang Sauce - You can use the sauce on other proteins like chicken or shrimp!
Equipment
Baking Sheet - For baking the salmon. I recommend lining with parchment paper for easier cleanup and so that nothing sticks.
Mixing Bowls - You'll need a couple small or medium bowls to mix up the sauce and the spice rub.
Leftovers and Storage
Salmon is best served right after cooking, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. I recommend either reheating the salmon in the oven or air fryer or eating cold.
Recipe Tips
- Adjust Sauce to Taste - You can easily adjust the spice and sweet level of the Bang Bang Sauce by adding more or less honey/sriracha.
- Don't Overcook Salmon - Salmon is considered fully cooked at 145 degrees F and when it easily flakes with a fork. Be careful not to overcook the salmon or it can become dry.
- Make the Bang Bang Sauce in Advance - You can make the sauce in advance and store in a container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bang Bang Sauce is a slightly sweet and slightly spicy mayo-based sauce. It comes from the popular Chinese Bang Bang Chicken dish.
Salmon is considered fully cooked through when the internal temperature reads 145 degrees F, but salmon can be eaten at medium which is closer to 130 degrees F. Instead of using the temperature, salmon is cooked when it is an opaque pink and flakes easily with a fork.
If your salmon filets have skin, you can leave the skin on and place the filets skin side down on the baking sheet. Once cooked, the salmon will easily flake away from the skin.
Serving Ideas

- Steamed or Roasted Veggies - Like Roasted Broccolini, Roasted Honey Carrots, or Roasted Mini Peppers.
Other Salmon Recipes
- Honey Sriracha Salmon Bites - Tender, sweet with a little heat, sticky, and saucy. Ready in just 15 minutes and the sauce only uses 5 simple ingredients.
- Air Fryer Salmon - Mix up a simple salmon seasoning to rub on the salmon filets then pop in the air fryer.
