Blueberry Almond Smoothie

I’ve really been on the smoothie game lately. I don’t know if it’s the warm weather making me crave something cold, all the in-season produce filling my fridge/freezer that needs to be used up, or because I’m just obsessed with all the fun colors. This smoothie checks all of those boxes. For fruit, we use a banana and some blueberries (fresh or frozen will do). By using at least some frozen fruit, the smoothie is nice and thick and cold. But, it’s also great with fresh fruit served over ice. And finally, that COLOR. Purple has always been my favorite color and just looking at this smoothie makes me happy. I don’t even care if my teeth and lips get a little temporary color 🙂

Sweet from the blueberries and pineapple, protein from the almond butter, and some extra nutrients from the flax and chia seeds, this smoothie checks all the boxes. Perfect for a quick on the go breakfast or as a post-workout snack. #Smoothie #vitamix #drinkyournutrients #postworkoutdrink #plantbaseddiet

Smoothies are a great way to sneak some extra nutrients into your diet. Whether some greens, extra fruit, or in this case some we’re sneaking in some flax seeds and chia seeds. Flax boast lots of benefits: fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, great for skin and nails, and help lower cholesterol. Chia seeds have their own lists of benefits: helps with skin aging, helps with digestive health, and can help boost your metabolism and energy. Don’t forget about the protein boost from the almond butter.

I have no problem drinking this smoothie all by myself. BUT, if you feel like sharing it can certainly serve two people.

Recipe Notes

It's okay to use fresh blueberries, but if you don't use any frozen fruit you may want to serve over ice.

If you use both frozen blueberries and a frozen banana, you may have to add additional almond milk if it's too thick for your blender to handle
