Air Fryer Quesadilla gives you crispy, golden tortillas and melty cheese with only about 5 minutes of cook time! By making quesadillas in your air fryer you can set it and walk away compared to standing by the stove.

Why I love It:
- Crispy Tortillas - The air fryer makes the tortillas the perfect level of crispy and golden brown.
- No Babysitting the Stove - Let the air fryer do all the work!
- Kid-Friendly - Perfect for kids and adults alike!
Ingredients You Need For Air Fryer Quesadillas:
- Flour Tortillas - I used 6 inch flour tortillas
- Shredded Cheese - I like to use Monterey Jack or a Mexican blend. The key is to use a cheese that melts well
- Shredded Chicken - Optional, you can do just cheese quesadillas too.
- Cooking Spray
- Toothpicks - For holding the tortilla together
- For Serving - Salsa, Guacamole, Sour Cream
How to Make Quesadillas in the Air Fryer:
- Assemble Quesadillas - Spray your quesadilla basket with cooking spray then add a tortilla. Spread cheese and shredded chicken on one half of the tortillas (I like to do cheese, then chicken, then a little more cheese). Fold over the tortilla, carefully, and close with two toothpicks. Repeat with a second tortilla.
- Spray Quesadillas - Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray. This helps get them nice and golden.
- Air Fry - Air fry for about 6 minutes at 400 degrees F. The tortillas should be golden brown and the cheese should be melted.
- Serve - Allow to cool for a minute or two then then cut and serve.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long should quesadillas be in the air fryer?
The cook time will depend on the size of the quesadilla and your air fryer, but most will cook in just 5-6 minutes.
What cheese is best for quesadillas?
Use your favorite shredded cheese that melts well. I like to use Monterey Jack, a Mexican Blend, or an authentic Hispanic cheese like Oaxaca or Chihuahua cheese.
Recipe Tips:
- Spritz with Cooking Spray - Spritzing the quesadilla tops with cooking spray helps the tortillas get nice and golden brown.
- Cook Time Will Vary - The cook time may vary by a minute or two depending on the size of your quesadilla and air fryer. I like to take a peak at it to check
- Use Toothpicks - Using a couple toothpicks helps keep the air fryer fan from blowing open the quesadilla.
Serving Ideas
While a cheesy quesadilla is great on its own, it's even better with something to dip! Here are some of my favorites:
- Guacamole
- Salsa
- Pico de Gallo
- Sour Cream
- Queso Cheese Dip
Variations
This recipe is super customizable! Here are some of my favorite variations:
- Cheese Only - You can do just cheese if you'd like! I'd add a little extra shredded cheese so they're super melty and cheesy.
- Spicy Chicken - You can toss the shredded chicken with a little hot sauce or hot salsa before adding to the quesadillas.
- Vegetarian - Instead of chicken, try spreading some refried beans on the tortilla before sprinkling with shredded cheese.
- Jalapeño - Add minced or thinly sliced jalapeños to the filling.
Storage and Reheating
- Storage - Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- Reheating - Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer at 350 degrees F a few minutes until warmed.
Other Air Fryer Recipes:

- Air Fryer Baked Potatoes - Super crispy skin, but tender and soft on the inside.
